Privacy Policy - Phantom
This Privacy Policy explains how the Phantom Android app and the companion Phantom Quest app handle user data.
What Phantom Does
Phantom lets an Android phone stream live camera video and microphone audio to a Meta Quest headset so the phone user can appear as a live hologram in mixed reality.
Data Accessed Or Processed
Camera
The Android app uses the device camera to capture live video during an active session. Camera frames are processed on the device for background segmentation and then transmitted in real time. Phantom does not record, store, or save camera video.
Microphone
The Android app may use the microphone for live voice communication with the Quest user. Audio is transmitted in real time and is not recorded or stored by Phantom.
Room Codes And Optional Passwords
Phantom uses temporary room codes to connect the Android sender and Quest receiver. Users may optionally set a session password. Passwords are sent to the Phantom room service over HTTPS and are stored only temporarily as a hash in server memory for the lifetime of the session.
Network And Device Diagnostics
The app uses the network to contact the Phantom room service. Diagnostic status messages may be shown inside the app to help users understand connection state, camera state, and streaming quality. Phantom does not use analytics SDKs or advertising SDKs.
Session Logs
Phantom may keep limited server-side session logs to operate and troubleshoot the room connection service. These logs may include temporary room codes, timestamps, connection events, request status, and basic technical error information. Session logs do not include camera video, microphone audio, names, contacts, precise location, or payment information.
Meta Horizon User ID, Purchases, And Subscriptions
The Quest app may access the Meta Horizon User ID and Meta-managed purchase or subscription status only to verify whether the current user has access to paid Phantom AR features. Phantom does not use Meta Horizon User ID, purchase data, or subscription data for advertising, and does not sell this data.
Service Providers
Phantom uses service providers for hosting, room connection, and real-time communication infrastructure. These providers process data only as needed to operate the app, such as routing live session traffic, maintaining room connections, and supporting subscription-related app functionality.
Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not require account registration.
- We do not collect names, email addresses, contacts, precise location, or raw payment card information.
- We do not sell user data.
- We do not use user data for advertising.
- We do not store video or audio recordings.
Data Retention And Deletion
Room sessions are temporary and expire automatically. Temporary room codes and password hashes are removed when the session expires or is deleted. Limited session logs are stored on Phantom-controlled server infrastructure and are retained only as long as reasonably needed for security, abuse prevention, debugging, and service reliability. Since Phantom does not create user accounts, there is no account profile to delete. Users can stop sharing camera and microphone data at any time by stopping the session or uninstalling the app.
Security
The Android app contacts the Phantom room service over HTTPS. Real-time media is transported using WebRTC encryption. Release builds disable cleartext traffic.
Children's Privacy
Phantom is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
